Text Box: After several sessions with our clinical psychologist it came to light that Mrs P, a Polish lady who had come to England to work had been regularly sending money home to her family in Poland, including her three grown up children. When diagnosed with leukaemia she underwent intensive chemotherapy but unfortunately did not respond and became terminally ill.  Although her family could afford for one of her children to come to England, they could not pay for all three. LINC was able to fund the airfare and accommodation for the other two children so that all three children could be with their mother when she sadly died just after Christmas. At this time sessions for the family with the clinical psychologist were invaluable.

Clinical Psychologist

Nicky Dobbin

Coming to terms with illness or mortality is not easy for patients, family or friends and affects everyone in different ways.  As pressures grow, relationships can often falter under the enormous strain and that’s why funding a clinical psychologist was so important to LINC.  Although other hospital trusts don’t see this service as priority, LINC feels that this programme remains a vital part of the support that patients and their family need.  We are proud to be able to fund 2 sessions per week and are delighted with the support our clinical psychologist has offered to patients and families since the sessions began in 2004.
